Decline by Alanah Stone Draws on the Gold Coast Cover Circuit

Decline by Alanah Stone Draws on the Gold Coast Cover Circuit

Almost a Decade of Gigs on the Coast Shaped an Afrobeats, R&B and Pop Single

Twin Towns sits right on the border where Coolangatta on the Gold Coast meets Tweed Heads in New South Wales. It is where Alanah Stone played her first solo gig, aged 13. Almost a decade of shows across the Coast, Brisbane and New South Wales followed before her debut single in 2023. Decline by Alanah Stone, released on 13 February 2025, is where that circuit meets Afrobeats, contemporary R&B and commercial pop.

Alanah Stone’s Decline sits in the playlist below, among this desk’s Afrobeat, Afro-Pop and Amapiano picks. Her full run of coverage sits on Alanah Stone’s artist profile. The single reached AfroMusic.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. Hit play on Decline, then read on for what the Gold Coast put into it.

From Twin Towns to Brisbane, the Gold Coast Live Circuit Built the Voice on Decline by Alanah Stone

The Gold Coast circuit is a working singer’s education, and Alanah Stone’s account of it is specific. After that first set at Twin Towns, she spent years singing at venues and shows across the Coast. Those dates took her up to Brisbane and over the border into New South Wales. The set lists ran through blues, soul, rock, pop, jazz and R&B.

Her cover list shows the range the room demanded. It runs from My Girl and Proud Mary to If I Ain’t Got You and Rolling in the Deep. Australian radio favourites sit beside them, including Dragon’s April Sun in Cuba and Gabriella Cilmi’s Sweet About Me. Empire of the Sun’s Walking on a Dream is there too. Then come the dancefloor closers, Dancing Queen and Murder on the Dancefloor.

That is the scene in practical terms. A covers singer on the Coast learns to read a crowd fast and to move between eras in one set. Above all, the job is to keep people on their feet late in the night. None of that shows up in a press photo, yet all of it shows up in the way a singer handles a hook.

Training, Teaching and a 2023 Debut

The circuit was only half of the education. Alanah Stone holds a Diploma of Music Industry and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, and she also works as a vocal coach. Her stated influences are Neil Young, Etta James and Whitney Houston.

In 2023 she turned to her own songs. The debut single Everyone came first. Later, Senocular Media described her as a Gold Coast pop artist who burst onto the scene with it. Decline arrived in February 2025, a self-released single of two minutes and 46 seconds.

Decline by Alanah Stone Turns a Dating-Scene Reckoning Into Afrobeats Pop for the Dancefloor

The song itself comes from somewhere closer to home than the stage. Akt Music traced the lyric to the modern dating scene, where situationships blur the line between love and reality. It describes the moment when the rose-coloured glasses come off. Then comes the decision to say no to a toxic cycle and choose self-respect instead.

What the circuit put into the record is the delivery. Akt Music heard smooth, rolling verses gliding into a chorus, with a vocal both sultry and commanding. Meanwhile, HypeHub Magazine picked out disco-fused Afrobeats and pop hooks. It also noted wordplay that teases out the push and pull of modern relationships. Senocular Media placed the track between commercial pop, R&B and Afrobeat.

The mix makes sense from where she started. A singer whose cover sets include Dancing Queen knows that a hard lesson lands better on a beat that keeps a room moving. Accordingly, Decline sets its reckoning against Afrobeats bounce rather than a ballad tempo.

Where Decline Sits in the Catalogue

Decline came early in a steady run. Before it came Safe and Sound in July 2024 and Plain Sight in November 2024. After it, the singles kept arriving through 2025 and 2026, from Dime, Wolfboy, Be the Same and Feel It to Crave and Fluidity. The latest, Crawl, came out on 24 September 2026.

That pace is the circuit habit again: keep showing up, keep the set fresh. For a listener meeting her now, Decline is still the clearest statement of how the Gold Coast shaped her pop.

Who It Is For

Decline suits listeners across Australia who like their pop with an Afrobeats pulse and an R&B vocal at the front. It also suits anyone who came to that crossover through Tyla or Ayra Starr. Here they can hear how a singer from the Gold Coast circuit handles the same blend. For people who have seen Alanah Stone on a Coast or Brisbane stage, it is the original material behind the covers set.

From the AfroMusic.News Curator Team: “Nearly ten years of cover gigs teach a singer where a room wants to go. Decline keeps that instinct: the lyric is about walking away, and the beat makes sure nobody in the room sits down while it happens.”
