Samzkid Follows Love and the Herb with My Way, Produced by Psalmwise
A Nigerian Singer Who Started with Street Freestyles on Audiomack Smooths Out on R&B
Samzkid grew up in Iyana Meiran, in Lagos, Nigeria, and his music still carries the streets he came from. His new single, My Way, came out on 20 July 2026. It blends Afrosounds, R&B, Afropop and street music into something smoother than the freestyles that first put his name around.
Samzkid’s My Way now plays in our playlist below, between two other independent acts on the Afro-pop circuit, and every article about the artist sits on the Samzkid profile. PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles, brought My Way to AfroMusic.News. Press play, then read on for the street scene the song grew out of.

Samzkid Grew Up Around the Street-Hop Sound That Feeds Nigeria’s Afrobeats Scene
Afrobeats is made above all in three cities: Lagos, Accra and London. In Nigeria, much of that energy comes from the street. In 2017 the Shaku Shaku dance is believed to have spread out of Agege, popularised by street kids, before Olamide put it in his video for Wo. More recently, the scene has given a name to a spiritual, uplifting strand of street-hop, Afro-Adura, which emerged in 2022. Asake, Bella Shmurda and Zinoleesky are among the artists associated with it.
The circuit that carries this music runs through phones as much as clubs. Audiomack, the streaming app, signed a deal with MTN Nigeria in April 2021 to make streaming cheaper for the network’s users. Its yearly push for new talent, Keep the Beat Going, has featured emerging artists from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa since 2022.
That is the route Samzkid took. In late 2024 he started uploading raw freestyles to Audiomack, among them OLORUN, SORO and HUSTLER. OLORUN takes its title from a Yoruba name for God, and the language of those first uploads is the language of the street around him.
The uploads built a following in the underground. By November 2026 his Audiomack page had passed 45,000 plays, with SORO 1 and HUSTLER (Kelegbe) still pinned near the top.

My Way Carries Samzkid’s Audiomack Street Roots Into Afrosounds, R&B and Afropop
Before My Way came the debut project, Love and the Herb, released on 1 March 2026. Its two breakout tracks, Love Bug and Sativa, are still his most played songs on Spotify, and My Way now sits right behind them.
The new single is the most polished thing he has put out. Samzkid, credited as Samad Adeshina David, wrote it, and the producer Psalmwise built the track around him. Samzkid sings it and adds his own background vocals, so the layers around the lead are his too.
What the street put into the record is the attitude rather than the roughness. The early freestyles were raw by design. My Way keeps their confidence and sets it inside smooth R&B rhythms with an Afropop finish.
My Way also arrived less than five months after Love and the Herb, which keeps the steady pace of the Audiomack days. Release often, and let listeners decide which songs travel; on Spotify, they have already chosen Love Bug and Sativa.
He has kept the business side independent, too. The single went out through Ditto Music with no label involved, the same do-it-yourself route that began with those first Audiomack uploads. Meanwhile, his X profile already points fans to a pre-save for the next single, Wire.

Olamide and Seyi Vibez Show Where a Nigerian Street Sound Can Travel
Two Nigerian names help place Samzkid for new listeners.
Olamide is the reference point. He records in Yoruba and English, built his own label, YBNL, and is regarded as one of the most influential artists in Nigeria and Africa. His debut album, Rapsodi, arrived in 2011, and one of his early singles was even called Voice of the Street.
Seyi Vibez, born in Ketu and raised in Ikorodu, shows how quickly the street can reach the charts. Seyi Vibez broke through in 2023 with Chance, which reached No. 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 and charted on the UK Afrobeats singles chart. Before that, the projects NSNV and Billion Dollar Baby had built his name between 2019 and 2022.
Samzkid is a long way from those numbers, but he is working the same circuit. My Way is the clearest sign yet of where he wants to take it.
From the AfroMusic.News curator team: “We placed My Way fifth in our Afrobeat, Afro-Pop, Amapiano playlist, straight after D-Signature’s Volume Buck. It brings an R&B touch to the run, right before Elik Tara Group’s Honoré Vraiment.”
